REASON FOR ATTENDING YOUTH CLUB

We did a consultation with 50 young people and asked the question "Whats your main reason for attending youth club" Answers are in the image below and here are some insights from the top 3 1️⃣ Food ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ—  Never underestimate the power of hot meals, refreshments & snacks.  Food creates comfort, conversation, and community.  It’s often the bridge to deeper engagement.  2️⃣ Engaging Activities ๐ŸŽจ⚽๐ŸŽฎ  Young people show up for fun but stay when it’s meaningful.  Creative, active, and youth-led sessions spark interest and build connection 3️⃣ Trusted #youthworkers ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’ฌ๐Ÿ›ก️  Relationships matter.  Young people gravitate toward adults who are consistent, real, and genuinely care.  Trust isn’t built overnight it’s earned through presence and authenticity.

๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿฝ‍๐Ÿ’ผYouth Work Management - Staff Wellbeing #YOUTHWORK A Valued youth team ๐ŸŸฐ Better supported young people ๐Ÿ”‘One thing i do to stay on track with staff wellbeing is to consistently track and inspire progress. I call it the constant feedback loop! This is what I do. 1⃣:The Personal touch Check in with team members weekly. A quick chat asking how they are❓Is everything ok at home❓ Follow up if they confided in you about something the previous week. 2⃣: Workload Check in Ask them about their week ahead or just gone, projects, reports, face to face work. How’s training going this week❓ Any wins or struggles❓ 3⃣ Deviate if needed Adjust their workload based on deadlines, wellbeing, progress or enjoyment. A simple "hey if you’re stuck with anything", let’s tweak some bits so it works better for you!" Your youth team knowing they can streamline or deviate if needed helps keep them focused 4⃣ Log their progress. This is vital unless you have a great memory. ...

I recently went on holiday to Greece ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ท which led to a lot of young people asking where i had been and about holidays in general. I work with a lot of young people who have never been on holiday so i wanted to do a session on holiday aspirations. Changes young people would make to Youth Club to make it better for Their Mental Health ๐Ÿง  ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝ‍⚕ Youth Voice ages 11-19 ๐Ÿ—ฃ️ Answers displayed in the Visual here INSIGHT ๐Ÿ‘€ There's a substantial interest in maintaining the status quo, with 'No Changes' being the dominant response (9), indicating a significant portion of young people are content with the current influence youth club has on their mental health despite an overall preference for some changes. ACTIONS ๐ŸŽฌ There should now more than ever be a big emphasis on relationship building and forming them connections that form positive influence that can further support a young persons mental health ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ INSIGHT ๐Ÿ‘€ "Share Thoughts Anonymously" and "New Activities" are both substantial changes with scores of 6 and 7, suggesting a strong desire for platforms that encourage expression and engagement. The biggest youth concern in a feedback survey we did with young people aged 11-19 was bullying (you can read insights from the survey in a previous post) This session plan aims to educate and empower young people to understand and address bullying, promoting a safe and supportive environment. *Objectives* 1.
