Which of the following issues, if any, do you worry about in your day to day life?

As part of the department of culture, media and sport National * Youth * Strategy “whats your order” consultation, we asked 126 young people aged between 10-19

Which of the following issues, if any, do you worry about in your day to day life?

We recorded the answers for our data which yielded the following results

INSIGHTS from the top 3 day to day worries and also the lowest worries for young people.

Getting the right support at school' stands out as the most significant worry for young people with 23 choosing this as their answer, nearly double that of the next concern.

ACTIONS -  The results indicate an area for targeted interventions or supportive programs. Facilitating a working  partnership with the local secondary school we should aim to deliver

  1. School facilitated Youth clubs to help support mental health & wellbeing

  2. Youth workers on hand for 1 to 1 revision and coursework support

  3. Youth workers on hand to help mediate conflict

Notable worries such as 'Money' and 'Social media & Online presence' score high with 14 and 13 respectively, suggesting a trend where financial and digital aspects of life weigh heavily on young people's minds.

ACTIONS -

  1. Hold consultations that listen to their bespoke needs and concerns around money, social media & online presence so we can better support them

  2. Offer proactive financial literacy workshops that they understand.

  3. Provide digital well-being education that will help them navigate their worries about social media & online presence.

Conversely, some concerns like 'Using public transport by myself,' 'Being independent,' and 'Climate change and the environment' are marked by notably low counts, potentially indicating lower concern or perceived risk in these areas.

ACTIONS -

  1. Results in these areas should guide our priority in not delivering educational and support resources for these concerns. However we must still be open to these coming up as greater concerns in the future and ready to act when they do
