YOUTH SAFETY CONCERNS.
I asked 75 young people that i work with whats the single biggest concern for them in our local area, See the data picture for answers in full. Me and my team will be putting in some extra interventions for the 3 biggest concerns. Heres what we will be doing
1. Bullying stands out as the most significant concern with 15 young people giving this as their answer. This highlights what could be a criticle issue. Extra intervention will include.
* Anti bullying week themed activities every half term including poster & t-shirt designing, decorative baking and sports activities focused on teamwork and collaboration
* Extra QR code resources around the hub so young people can get confidential external support (Tip - Toilets are always good to put these types of resources)
* Continue to build an environment where a young person feels safe in sharing they are being bullied.
2. School related issues said by 14 young people suggest that school is a major area of stress implying the need for better support systems. Extra invention will include
* Build a stronger partnership with the local schools so we can work collaboratively becoming part of there support system.
3. Vaping addiction said by 12 young people suggest a strong desire to quit vaping and an awarness of the health issues. Extra intervention will include
* Youth workers all booked onto extra training on young people & vaping
* Workshops delivered from trained specialists with a focus on breaking habits and healthy alternatives.
