We use a youth voice approach when deciding what sessions to deliver therefore all session plans are created at young peoples request.

Foster inclusivity, understanding, and celebration of diversity. 

🛟 Safeguarding
Be sure to foster a supportive environment and have external resources for young people who need extra support.

Respect the boundaries of those young people from religious backgrounds who might not feel comfortable taking part.

📝Session Plan

🗣️ *Discussion*: Explore what being LGBTQ+ means to the young people. And spead awarness on the history of pride 

💡TIP - The best
engagement came from the following 

1⃣ Young people sharing personal Stories of being LGBTQ+ or their Experiences of having friends who are

2⃣ Sharing print media of LGBTQ+ key
history milestones and figures with young people.

3⃣ Myth-Busting. Address common misconceptions 

💡Tip
Ask young peoples views on myths - It gave youth workers a great platform to myth bust opinions like the dress code and extream sexual preferences.

4⃣  Discuss ways to be an ally and support LGBTQ+ peers.

Print out lots of the most popular logo templates - From fashion to music to food and ask young people to colour or paint in the pride colours. 

💡Tip - Combine the activity with the discussion topics for more focused group

👨🏽‍💼Youth Work Management - Staff Wellbeing #YOUTHWORK A Valued youth team 🟰 Better supported young people 🔑One thing i do to stay on track with staff wellbeing is to consistently track and inspire progress. I call it the constant feedback loop! This is what I do. 1⃣:The Personal touch Check in with team members weekly. A quick chat asking how they are❓Is everything ok at home❓ Follow up if they confided in you about something the previous week. 2⃣: Workload Check in Ask them about their week ahead or just gone, projects, reports, face to face work. How’s training going this week❓ Any wins or struggles❓ 3⃣ Deviate if needed Adjust their workload based on deadlines, wellbeing, progress or enjoyment. A simple "hey if you’re stuck with anything", let’s tweak some bits so it works better for you!" Why Did I Start Vaping? Average Age? Youth Voice ages 13-19.

I asked 25 young people aged between 13 & 19 who vape why they started and what age they were? Since I established a judgment-free environment, I received some interesting and honest responses. Since several young people provided responses that were similar, I combined them and determined the average age at which they began Full answers are displayed in the data visualisation here INSIGHTS The diversity of reasons from stress to boredom underscores the complex motivations behind vaping, indicating a blend of personal coping mechanisms and external social factors. This variety hints at needing multiple intervention approaches to address the problem effectively amongst those who vape. The average age of first-time vapers is alarmingly low at just over 13, highlighting a significant vulnerability among youth, predominantly influenced by social factors.
